Laughing Boy

Truman and his New Cup

We introduced a new sippy cup to Truman yesterday and he thought it was hilarious! At daycare, Truman is always trying to take the other children's cups, so we think he probably was thinking how cool it was that we had given him a new one.  I love when he almost falls over from laughing so hard :-)

Truman Goes Down His Slide

It's been a while since we've posted any videos of Truman! Here's one of him climbing up and then going down his new slide:

Fun at the Park

Today was a beautiful day here in NC so we decided to take advantage of the perfect weather and go to a local park. We've been working hard to get Truman more comfortable with playground equipment as he has been scared of the slide and swings; however, with a little persistence and help from our backyard slide (thanks, Grandma B!) Truman is now LOVING all things playground! As soon as we got to the playground, Truman ran straight to the swings with a huge smile on his face. After swinging for a bit, he was able to walk up the steps  to the slide (with just a tiny bit of assistance from mommy) and then go down all on his own - no fear at all! We are so proud of our sweet boy!

Thankful Thursday

Today (and everyday) we are thankful for our precious boy and his beautiful smile!

More from Graduation Weekend!

As mentioned earlier, Shea's hooding ceremony was Friday. Luckily, his family was able to stay an extra day in order to hangout and visit. We had a very fun Saturday which was spent shopping, playing, and eating yummy Thai food. We also were able to snap a few family photos before they had to leave early Sunday morning. Thanks for visiting!
We love you!!!

Grandad and Nadine

This morning Grandad and Nadine were able to stop by our house for a quick breakfast before they had to head to the airport to catch an early flight home. Luckily for Truman, they brought his favorite breakfast food - bagels! He was very excited and ate over half of his whole-wheat bagel. Yumm! Before they left we were able to take a great family photo. I think this one is frame-worthy!

Thanks, Grandad and Nadine, for making the long trek down to see us and celebrate!

Graduation Night!

Last night, Shea participated in the hooding ceremony for his PhD. Shea's dad and step-mom came into town Thursday night and his grandma, mom, step-dad and brother arrived yesterday morning in order to help us celebrate. The ceremony took place last night at 6:30pm. The timing was a bit tough since Truman typically goes to sleep at 7:30pm. With all of the excitement, he didn't fall asleep until almost 11pm!!!

But back to the ceremony! We arrived at the Durham convention center and snapped a couple of photos. They came out surprisingly well, I think!

Then Truman and I sat with Shea's parents while he went to his assigned seat with his department:

With the lighting, we didn't actually get any great pictures of Shea being 'hooded'. They did, however, take official photos at the event so maybe we'll be able to purchase one of those. Here's the best one we got last night.

Shea is the red dot in the middle :-)
As we suspected would happen, Truman basically refused to sit still for any of the ceremony. It was okay, though, because we purposely sat right next to the door and Truman and I spent the whole ceremony running up and down the hallways. I could hear the announcements, though, so I knew when it was Shea's turn and I got to pop back in and see him walk across the stage.

After the ceremony, they opened up another room at the Convention Center and served delicious food, including Truman's favorite - hummus! Like I mentioned earlier, Truman ended up staying awake through the whole event (and the whole car ride home). At a couple of times he came really close to falling asleep, but there was just too much excitement. Before we left, we took some more family pictures!

All in all it was a fun, albeit exhausting, night! Congratulations again to my doctor husband!  We are all so incredibly PROUD of you!!!!

Little Librarian

Lately, Truman has been enjoying perusing our home library. Sometimes he even chooses a book, but then usually ends up putting it back on the shelf rather than attempt to read it. For now, he's sticking with Dr. Seuss :-)

Gifts Galore

Grandma Simmons recently sent us a super cute new outfit for Truman, which included this adorable whale sweatshirt. It came just in time, too, because he is growing like a weed and was in need of some new outerwear!

Truman is starting to babble and talk constantly - and we love it! Here he was telling Mommy about his new sweatshirt :-)

Surprise Delivery!

Wednesday night we were hanging out when we got a surprise delivery from our UPS man..a fun slide for Truman from Grandma Bernard!

We've been thinking about getting a little slide for our backyard and had even been looking at different models online - we couldn't believe that Grandma B read our minds like that! We set it up right away and Truman has been LOVING it! He asks us to put him on top - he says "Sssii! Sssi!" - and then has fun being in charge of sliding down himself.

Thanks so much, Grandma! Truman is going to get a lot of good use out of his new present :-)
