Mommy and Baby!

Just some sweet pictures of me and my baby :-)

Truman's New Chair

We've been working a lot with Truman regarding the idea of set "activity" time. For those of you who know our sweet boy, you understand that he's an active boy - a very active boy. His activity level combined with some distractability often results in him moving from one thing to the next before truly finishing the first activity he started with. In order to help with this, a few months ago we started "blanket time", wherein whenever we took out his elephant blanket Truman learned that if he sat on the blanket he could play with certain toys that we keep separate for blanket time. He was doing really great with this, until about a week ago when he started immediately trying to take the presented toys to different areas of the house. One of his therapists thought that now that he's getting bigger, he might prefer a chair to the blanket. Therefore, this weekend we went out and bought him a small fold up chair that he can use with our coffee table. While Truman uses a little chair at daycare during mealtime, this one is a bit taller and he seemed to find it funny. He enjoyed sitting in it, crawling on it, and just lounging. Next step involves working with him to realize it's his "activity chair" :-)

I love this lounging one. He looks so "zen."

Sunday Styles

Truman was super tired all morning today, which resulted in a crying/screaming fit around 10am (which literally never happens!). We decided to put him down for an early nap, and 3 and a half hours later he woke up like this!

Rest does the body good :-)

Fav Fotos Friday

Stacking blocks! (and then carrying the stack to a different room :-)

Here Truman is experimenting with stacking blocks on a softer surface - he is always setting up little experiments for himself!

Impossible to Resist

When Truman wants to go play outside (which is very, very often - he loves the outdoors!) he will take either Shea's or my hand, pull us to the sliding glass door, and then give us the cutest smile ever. It's almost impossible to say no to our beautiful boy!

Tired Boy

After we got home from Truman's friend's birthday party this weekend, Truman was pretty wiped out! First, he laid his big pillow on the coffee table and climbed up for a little rest:

And then he brought his pillow to the floor to relax on:

Fun fact: Truman has always really loved this pillow. At one point, we bought a new, cleaner pillow to try to replace it; however, he was not a big fan of the new pillow and we ended up bringing back this older, dirtier one :-)

Introducing...

Dr. Bigsby! We are so happy to say that Shea passed his dissertation defense last week, meaning he can now officially call himself a doctor of philosophy - woohoo!!!!

This is Shea's "excited" face - Truman, however, doesn't quite understand the excitement :-)

Birthday Parties Galore!

Truman is one popular little boy - in the last month, he has attended 4 different birthday parties! I already blogged about one of them, and the other 3 have taken place in the last week and a half. The second party was held at Truman's daycare. It was really fun - a bunch of kids from Truman's class just got to hangout, eat pizza & ice cream, and then run around daycare burning off their energy. Truman loved it. He seemed to think it was really funny to be able to run around daycare when most of the other children had gone home:

Party #3 happened at the same park as party #1. We didn't actually take many photos of this party - just this quick one of Grandma B helping Truman get a drink from his red solo cup (which Shea & I did not realize is some kind of popular country music song - Grandma B started singing the song while we looked at her like she was an alien, until the other party goers confirmed it was a real song :-)

Party #4 took place at a local play zone - I'm not really sure how to describe the place except to say it was big, loud, and had tons of inflatable areas for kids to jump on. While at first Truman was a bit overwhelmed by the noise (I am not exaggerating when I say it was incredibly loud - like difficult to hear the person next to you talk), but he quickly adjusted after finding some balls to bounce around. While he never ventured into the true play areas, he liked running around on the squishy floors while throwing the balls. And in the party zone, he was able to try his first Pringle - which, not surprisingly, he enjoyed immensely:

Easter Visit from Grandma B!

One of the very best perks of working for the public school system is the vacations! (and, of course, working to help better the future for our children ;-) Anyway, as I've surely mentioned before, I'm a school psychologist here in NC and my mom is the principal of an elementary school up in NY so we are lucky enough to get to share many of the same breaks, Easter included! And while we don't really celebrate the Easter holiday as such, Grandma B is always great at using her time off to come visit our little family. We've been looking forward to the visit for months and it did not disappoint. The weather was absolutely beautiful and we were able to do many of our favorite activities, like taking long walks, going to a local park, and shopping! As usual, we forgot to take many pictures - I guess we were having too much fun! We did snap this one at the park:

And these super sweet ones of Truman reading with Grandma B:

Our goal for Grandma B's next visit: Take More Pictures!!! :-)
