Today Truman had tons of fun playing with his daddy's birthday balloon. He carried it around with him everywhere, and at what point we swear we heard him saying "bah-oon" :-)
Here Truman is carrying his balloon around the house: And then he took his new favorite toy outside: He thought it was so funny when Daddy hit the balloon: And here he is just being his usual cute self:
Check out these adorable PJ's we bought for Truman - even he thinks the doggie toes are fun! And here's our tired boy letting us know it's time to go to bed and make good use of his comfy jammies (whenever he gets sleepy he just starts walking around with his eyes closed - it's adorable :-)
...we received an email from our agency asking if we were interested in receiving more information about a 2 month old boy named Bekalu. The email said that the boy was doing well and had "a bright smile." We immediately contacted our caseworker and were emailed this amazing photo - the first picture we ever saw of our son. We remember it like it was yesterday - the joy, hope, and love that immediately developed. As soon as we saw this sweet, precious face, we knew that he was our son. Can't believe it's been a year!!!
May 4, 2010: May 4, 2011: That day changed our lives forever, and we feel so incredibly lucky to have Truman Bekalu in our lives!!!
About a week ago Truman mastered the art of standing up. Obviously he's been able to pull himself into a standing position for quite some time (he actually mastered that when he was only 7 months old!), but now he can stand up without having to pull up on anything. As can be expected, this means that he is now busier than ever! Luckily we've had really nice weather lately so he's been able to spend a lot of time running around outside. He continues to be a busy, busy boy!
Here are some shots of his new skill: And just some fun shots from outside:
While last weekend Grandma B came to visit, this weekend it was Grandma Simmons's turn! Shea and Truman were able to meet Grandma S at the airport Friday morning and spend the whole day together. Much fun was had by all!
Here are a few pictures from the airport: Playing around the house: Saturday morning we all got up bright and early for a swim lesson. As usual, Truman had tons of fun in the water! Then Grandma S left early this morning. Before leaving, however, she was able to spend another morning with Sweet T! Visits from family are so much fun!!
Welcome to our blog! We started this blog in order to stay more in touch with family and friends, especially as we make our way through our Ethiopian adoption journey. For those who don't know, Shea is currently getting his PhD in English and Alison is a school psychologist with a local school district. We are loving life with our little boy!
