6th Tooth!

Truman's 6th tooth has arrived! It's on the upper right, directly next to his front tooth. We are loving his new toothy smile!

Cup Drinking

The past couple of months we've been starting to teach Truman how to drink out of a cup. So far, he is loving it! Sure, we have to help or he will pour the whole cup of water onto himself, be he has so much fun drinking from a cup! The other day at our swim lesson, when they gave Shea a cup so that he could pour water onto Truman, our Sweet T grabbed the cup and tried to start drinking out of it - we both started laughing! Here's our boy enjoying his water.

Smart Boy!

In the past few days, Truman has really started to impress us with his ability to use and understand language. He is really upping the number of sounds he makes, and has started mimicking us when we laugh or sing loudly (he'll go "Ahhhh!" along with us!). He also now knows what "No" means, which has started to be very helpful for us parents :-) When we tell Truman no, he will turn and smile at us, then start to do again whatever he was doing - when we say no a 2nd time, he then stops the action and moves on to something else. We love how he kind of "tests" whether or not we really mean no, and then listens once we confirm we are serious - it's very sweet! But our favorite new skill is that the past two nights Truman has started picking up books and bringing them to us so we'll read to him - isn't that precious?? Last night he got a book and then dropped it on me. I didn't think much of it (he often brings toys to Shea and I) until he picked up the book and dropped it on me again and then gave me an expecting look. Then tonight, he picked up a book, crawled a couple feet with it, and then waved it around in Shea's face until he read it to him. As we've said before, our boy really loves his books!

Animals Update!

I feel bad that we haven't mentioned our wonderful animal friends lately! Sure, you've probably seen Oskar and Sophie milling about in the background in many of our pictures and videos, but we haven't given them a good mentioning in a while. Well, for those of you wondering, our pets are doing great! Oskar immediately warmed to Truman upon meeting him (and vice versa). Whenever Truman wakes up from a nap, Oskar runs upstairs and wants to be the first one in the room to greet our little boy. He's also, however, equally excited when Truman goes down for a nap because that means snuggle time with mama! Sophie, on the other hand, was very aloof when we Truman first arrived. She would only come visit us when Truman was sleeping, and if he was awake she would walk through the room as though Truman were invisible to her (such a cat thing to do!). Since then, she has definitely warmed up to him. She now comes down whenever she pleases and will come to us for loving even if we are playing with or reading to Truman. One night we forgot to turn on our baby monitor, and apparently Truman started crying but we could not hear, so Sophie scratched at our door until we got up and helped out Truman - isn't that sweet? (sure, she probably only did it because she was annoyed by Truman's crying, but we'll pretend she did it because she loves him). But yes, overall, everything is going wonderfully, and the transition with our animal babies is great - thank goodness! Here are some pictures of our "first-borns"

5th Tooth!

We may have mentioned that Truman recently got in his 5th tooth (on the top left next to his front tooth) but now we have photographic evidence! And, if you look really close, you can see that his 6th tooth is about to poke through on the top right.

Socks

Truman's new thing is that he immediately pulls of his socks whenever we place them on his feet. Even if he has shoes on, first he takes off the shoes and then it's off with the socks! (we've already lost a shoe on an outing). When we get to daycare to pick Truman up, while all the other babies are cheerfully wearing their socks T's are always in his clothing bin because he takes them off as soon as he arrives. We've grown to find this habit pretty adorable (yes, we find EVERYTHING about Truman adorable, so just add this habit to the list!) However, we feel bad because at night he immediately pulls off his socks and then his feet get cold while he sleeps. Well, we thought of a perfect solution - footed sleepers! Unfortunately, we only had 1 in his size. So we've been using it over and over in an attempt to save money and not buy more than we need, but after too much laundry we decided to splurge and get another sleeper for our sweet boy. Luckily, they were on sale (yay!). Doesn't he look so cute in his new monster sleeper?? And check out the cute monster feet!

This is the video from the first time we gave Truman a teething biscuit - I love his little giggles!

If we hold Truman's hands up and say "Walk, walk, walk" he really starts moving - it's so cute!

Still Sick...

So everyone in our household continues to be sick...blah! Today, I went to the doctor and was diagosed with acute bronchitis (again!) and possible mild adult-onset asthma. Shea has a lot of congestion, a sore throat, and a touch of laryngitis. And Truman still has a lot of mucus and some coughing (though no more fever - yay!). We are kind of bummed that our family has been hit so hard with illnesses this year - it had truly been one thing after the other. The only silver lining right now is that yesterday and today were snow days for the school system I work for, meaning we were all able to stay home together without having to take any sick leave. So yes, our disappointment about our illnesses is definitely being overshadowed by the fact that we get to spend our time home with the sweetest boy in the world.

Pillow Attack!

One of Truman's new favorite games is "Pillow Attack". It involves a lot of snuggling, tickling, kissing, and being covered with piles of pillows - he absolutely loves it! Here are some sweet pictures of our boy having tons of fun :-)

The New Camera Has Arrived!

Today I came home to a big package on the porch - our brand new Digital SLR! After patiently waiting 2 hours for the battery to charge, we were up and running and ready to shoot! Unfortunately, though, T still isn't feeling great so he wasn't really in the mood to have a bajillion pictures taken of him. Regardless, we sneaked in a few cute ones. We obviously still know hardly anything about how to use the camera, but the auto settings seemed to take some nice shots!

Here's some of dinner time:

Still Sick

Our poor little fellow is still feeling under the weather. Tonight, the only thing that took his mind off of his illness was reading his favorite books. When we read, Truman gets really focused on the books and tonight he even started talking to us about his favorite parts! Specifically, when reading The Foot Book (which is probably his top choice among books) whenever we got to the page about "well feet" and "sick feet" he would start laughing and talking, saying "ooh" and "oh"- it was so precious!

Holiday Photos!

Last week we had some official holiday photos taken with Sweet T. We've been anxiously awaiting the order to come in, and today Shea called to check and it had arrived! Here are some of our favorites - we just cannot get enough of that precious smile!! (note that the quality of these aren't great because I scanned them in to the computer, but the prints themselves look fabulous!)

Resilient Fellow

Even with a really bad cold and fever, Truman manages to eke out a sweet smile. We love our tough little cookie so much!

Sick Again!

Our poor little boy is sick again (darn you, daycare!) This time it's a bad cold, which has included a fever and lots of mucus. So far neither Shea or I has caught it, though knowing our luck that will change soon. Hopefully getting sick now will mean that our family can stay healthy during the winter holiday in a couple of weeks!

While we weren't able to take any pictures today, enjoy these few from earlier this week!
