That's right, we are home at last! After 4-1/2 weeks in Ethiopia, our new family of 3 arrived back in North Carolina on Friday afternoon. While our trip was an amazing, life-changing experience, Shea and I were both thrilled to come back to the comforts of home. And now, home is so much more exciting because we were able to bring the cutest, sweetest, most adorable baby boy home with us! Truman Bekalu is doing absolutely AMAZING transitioning with us. We feel so lucky that we were able to spend an entire month in Ethiopia with him, where literally the only task we had each day was to take care of and bond with our son. We really think it has helped our transition, as we already know what Truman's different cries mean and Truman has already started to look to us for comfort if/when he becomes upset (which, honestly, is not very often). Not to brag, but Truman is probably one of the most easy-going babies ever. He is still working on sleeping through the night, but when he's awake he is so happy and good-natured. Shea and I are just having an absolute blast being his parents! We plan to write some more blog posts later detailing our trip, but in the meantime enjoy some pictures of the most adorable baby on the planet :-)
This is the first referral picture we received of Truman Bekalu (he was 2-1/2 months old when the picture was taken):
Then we received this photo update in mid-May, when he was about 3 months old:
This is from the day we met Truman:
And here are some of our favorites from Ethiopia:
